The Monongahela Conference 2004
on Post Industrial Community Development
Influencing places we care about
The Monongahela Conference is based in the belief that art and creative vision have the power to effect traditional political procedures by welcoming the ideas and participation of every citizen. For the month of June in 2004, twelve nationally known artists, designers, and architects were working in residence in Braddock, Homestead, and McKeesport to generate public discussion about the relationships between cities, nature, and the policies that govern them. Conference participants created images, actions, designs, and plans that endeavore to inspire citizens to creative action and stewardship of the potential along the rivers and streams of Allegheny County.
